More Sketchbook Sketches

Working with Justin on the first one. I tried out his tablet PC during the weekend and that was the little sketch I came up with. So now we're kind of just going back and forth with it and hopefully something cool will result in this collaboration :P

Sketchbook Sketches

Bought a sketchbook the other day during my trip back home (I was out of town for the weekend). Normally I prefer drawing digitally because I do less smearing and mess with my lines than when I'm drawing on paper but otherwise there's little to no difference in the way I approach things. Still, it was fun to do something a little different for a change and it's a good way to pass the time when I'm out and about somewhere.

My favorite drawing utensil to use would be a ball point pen; they smear the least for me when I work :D

I don't normally like to mix my personal stuff with work but this was a project I've been working on for the past 2 1/2 months. It's been released today and for anyone who reads this and is on Facebook I'd really encourage you to try it out and let me know what you think!

Scarlet Lady - complete

Pretty happy with the results. There were some new and interesting elements that I'm not used to drawing but I always like to think of it as good practice.

Making some good headway on this one. I've been spending some time playing Mass Effect 1 + 2 lately; it's a good distraction to keep myself from burning out :D

A WIP for Vivka. I hit a few rough starts on drawing something for her (I meant to get this done sometime last year :/) and I only managed to scrape this out last night.

Alice in Wonderland

Feeling quite happy at the progress I'm making with this. So far the coloring itself has taken less time than all the line work and that's really motivating for me. I'm usually really slow at it since I'm too indecisive and I second-guess myself often. Trying to get over that fear and just do it the way I want to without having to pay attention to making things look right.

Started coloring M-Jo but it wasn't turning out exactly the way I wanted. I didn't want to burn myself out so I'll try taking a break from it and trying it again. I think I was expecting something easy and quick like my Happy Holidays sketch but I almost always run into trouble once coloring is involved.

Hime Pirate Looooo was a long but rewarding undertaking. Kirby helped me out in the end by tweaking all the detail and shiny bits since I never seem to have patience for those.

Sai

Still exploring the compatibility in using Sai with my work. Pretty fun; I really like the fact that a lot of the keyboard shortcuts in Sai are the same as in Photoshop and that really makes it super easy for me to just dive in. Sometimes when I'm going back and forth between something like Flash and Photoshop I start mixing up shortcuts and I hate at how much time that can eventually waste.

Some smaller and quicker sketches I've been doing recently. Kirby installed Sai on our little netbook so I can actually sketch on it :D I think I prefer Sai over Photoshop when it comes to my linework but I also know I'm pretty lazy when it comes to using multiple programs. I like Photoshop since I can practically use that for almost everything so...I dunno.

Testing out this print stuff. I'm not sure what the quality is like over there but Kirby and I did order a print for one of our walls. I haven't used that account in a long while so some of the other things are embarrassingly outdated :P

Alice in Moriland

Started a new sketch. I normally avoid drawing Alice in Wonderland type stuff; mostly because I feel that almost everyone at one point uses this as inspiration. But over on egl_comm_art it's one of the current contest themes and I felt inclined to try it out. I was going to ditch drawing Alice and go off on the loli bunny but I decided to give it another go and this second attempt at drawing her feels better to me.
